Dyno!!!! Rock climbing :3

Updated: Jan 7, 2021

I have been slowly trying to get better at rock climbing and I was finally able to do a dyno on the climbing wall! What is a dyno you ask? Dyno is short for dynamic movements.

Specifically, what it means is jumping off the location you are currently at and catching yourself again at a higher elevation. Literally jumping up a wall haha. *Spiderman music starts playing in the background* These types of movements require a lot of strength and control because you have to aim and explode towards the new location. A lot of people think that climbing is all about having big arms and being able to do a lot of pull ups, but this just isn't the case. To do a solid dyno, you need full body strength so your feet can propel you into the air, good grip strength to catch yourself, and you need to have a very strong core/abs.

If you were only allowed to work on one major muscle for rock climbing, then the most important would be your core. A strong core allows you to stay towards the wall and fight off your worst enemy. Oh, you didn't know you had a worst enemy? Well if you're gonna be a rock climber, you do now. GRAVITY. Your core is what allows you to stay against the wall when you are hanging upside down so you don't drain all the strength from your arms.
